Exclusive fabrics make durable, attractive, environmentally friendly clothes
Part of Snoot's fundamental philosophy is that clothing should be used in many different contexts, and that it should be designed to be so timeless and durable that you shouldn't have to buy too many different clothes, or buy new ones too often.
An article of clothing is defined primarily by its detail. We therefore use the best accessories we can find, such as zips, buttons and strapping. It doesn't matter how good the fabric we choose is if the zip breaks.
We are trying, to the limits of possibility, to use the most environmentally friendly alternatives when it comes to fabric, padding and accessories. Not simply because it feels better, but because we believe that in many cases the quality is better.
C-change™ by Schoeller®
Schoeller AG, which is amongst the world's most respected manufacturers of technically advanced fabrics, has launched the waterproof/breathable C-change™ membrane, the function of which they liken to the properties of a pinecone.
A pinecone shuts when it is cold, or it rains, and opens up when it is warm or sunny. In a similar way, the structure changes at a nano-level with the C-change™ membrane, so that it releases, when necessary, a substantially higher amount of warm, moist air/transpiration from the inside, even though it is completely watertight on the outside.
schoeller®-PCM™
schoeller®-PCM™ are special textiles containing millions of microcapsules filled with Phase Change Materials (PCM). They balance out temperatures which are too high or too low to achieve the wearer's personal comfort climate.
The function: the microcapsules react to temperature differences by altering their aggregate condition from solid to liquid and vice-versa. The Phase Change Material in the microcapsules has been set to a particular temperature range. If the body temperature or the outside temperature rises, the excess warmth is stored. When the temperature drops, the previously-stored warmth is released again.
The benefits: schoeller®-PCM™ actively balances out temperatures which are too high or too low and thus always ensures the wearer's personal comfort climate. Even at very low prevailing temperatures and at times of inactivity, the body is kept warm over a considerably longer period. In the reverse case, in warmer conditions the body is cooled and overheating prevented during physical exertion.

YKK®
YKK stands for Yoshida Kogyo Kabushikikaisha – probably the most famous global producer of zips, snaps and buttons. In 1997 they established a Fastening Global Quality Management Committee, which studies the latest laws and regulations from around the globe and tests, monitors and regulates the quality level of the products. Wherever you buy genuine YKK products in the world, YKK guarantees they will be tried and tested to the same quality standards. YKK adheres to ISO 9000 standards.
Snoot uses two types of YKK zippers:
- YKK Excella® – a high-end luxury quality metal zipper with polished, symmetrical teeth. This allows the zipper to move in either direction. Our Excella zippers are of course two-way to allow a maximum of body movement.
- YKK Natulon® – environmentally friendly zippers made from recycled material.
